People in WWE reportedly believe Brock Lesnar’s retirement is not official.
After losing his match against Oba Femi at WWE WrestleMania 42, Brock Lesnar shocked everyone by leaving his gloves and boots in the ring, teasing retirement. Paul Heyman took the idea even further when he blasted the RAW production crew and demanded that Lesnar be moved from the ‘Now’ to the ‘Forever’ portion of WWE’s iconic ‘Then, Now, and Forever’ intro.
While earlier reports stated that Brock Lesnar’s retirement happened earlier than planned, Dave Meltzer noted on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that people within WWE believe Lesnar hasn’t actually retired.
“I will only say that, based on people in WWE, they believe he’s not retiring yet, although he is retiring probably at some point this year. I don’t know that anyone knows, this might be one of those things where everything is being kept quiet like the Seth Rollins thing. A couple of people have mentioned it, that’s the belief,” Meltzer said about Brock Lenar.
However, Meltzer clarified that he is not saying Brock Lesnar hasn’t officially retired. He’s simply reporting that it’s the belief among the people he spoke to.
WWE reportedly planned a multi-match feud between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi
Speaking in the same episode, Dave Meltzer also reported that WWE originally planned a multi-match feud between Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar before WrestleMania 42. However, the promotion reportedly dropped the idea weeks ago.
“At one point, they were actually going to do a (full) feud with Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi, but that was dropped weeks ago. At one point, this was not going to be a one-and-done,” he said. [H/T WrestleTalk]
Brock Lesnar’s retirement was previously believed to take place at SummerSlam 2026 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. WWE had also seemingly planted the seeds for Gunther to end Lesnar’s career. The Ring General had told Paul Heyman that he owed him more than a thank you for facing Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 42. It will be interesting to see whether the Beast Incarnate makes one last return for a final match, or if he’s truly done for good.
