Fans may have seen what looked like the end of an era at WrestleMania 42, but not everyone believes Brock Lesnar has retired from wrestling.
The Beast Incarnate faced rising star Oba Femi on Night 2 of the event on April 19. It was promoted as a battle between a powerhouse legend and the next big thing in WWE. Lesnar has beaten almost everyone in his career, but this match turned out differently.
The former WWE Champion hit his F5 and looked ready to win. But quite surprisingly, Femi got right back up. This surprised both Lesnar and the crowd. Femi then hit a huge choke slam, followed by his finisher, Fall From Grace, to attain the win. The moment was as big as it could get for someone who debuted in the main roster just a few months ago.
But after the match, Lesnar took off his gloves and then removed his boots in the ring. This usually emerges as a sign of retirement in the wrestling realm. He also shed some tears due to the magnitude of the occasion. Paul Heyman, who was also crying, came into the ring, hugged Lesnar, and raised his hand while the crowd gave him a standing ovation.
It definitely felt like a goodbye. However, in WWE, retirements don’t always last.
CJ Perry predicts Brock Lesnar could return in Saudi Arabia despite retirement talk
Former WWE star CJ Perry (Lana) recently spoke about Lesnar’s future in an interview with TMZ. She said it’s hard to believe any wrestler is gone forever. She mentioned John Cena, who has returned at WrestleMania as a host.
Perry had also believed in the popular theory before WrestleMania that Lesnar might retire at SummerSlam, which will take place at his home, Minnesota.
“I think that’s where we all anticipated he was going to retire, right? And sounds a little bit very predictable for him to do that in Minnesota. So, I did really enjoy the surprise, but at the same time, it is a little hard for me to ever believe someone is fully leaving forever because John Cena was hosting WrestleMania, and he did a whole year-long tour of farewell. And I understand it wasn’t a wrestling match, but it’s like he’s already back,” Perry said.
The former AEW star also shared her own prediction that Lesnar could return next year for a big event in Saudi Arabia, where WWE often hosts major shows with huge paydays.
“I predict that Brock Lesnar will be fighting in Saudi Arabia next year. I think a prince or a Saudi prince or king is going to demand to have Brock, and they’ll pay him like 20-50 million, and he will show up. That’s my prediction, but we’ll see,” Perry added.
So, while it looked like a farewell, it might not be the end.
