A former AEW Women’s World Champion has returned to the promotion after a lengthy absence on this week’s episode of Collision.
As announced, this week’s episode of AEW Collision will take place later tonight instead of its usual Saturday slot due to basketball coverage. The promotion taped the show yesterday after Dynamite in Winnipeg, Canada. The episode featured the return of former Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida.
The Japanese wrestler has been away from AEW television since November 2024, as she had to return to her country to renew her visa. However, she remained active on the Japanese independent circuit during her absence. She renewed both her visa and her AEW contract in October 2025. After reports in January 2026 noted that she was backstage during a Dynamite taping in Orlando, where she resides, the promotion has finally brought her back. A fan, who was at the taping, shared a clip of her return on X/Twitter.
Hikaru Shida faced Willow Nightingale for the AEW TBS Championship in her return match. However, she couldn’t get the job done as Nightingale pinned her to retain the title.
