What is the latest on former multi-time Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida‘s AEW status?
Hikaru Shida has been absent from AEW programming since last November 2024, when she lost a match on Dynamite to Kris Statlander. It was later revealed that Shida’s absence was due to a visa issue and not an injury. Shida was stuck overseas in Japan for the better part of the year, but finally returned to the United States in late 2025 as her visa issues had been worked out.
But what is her current status with AEW as we begin 2026?
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), Hikaru Shida was backstage at AEW Dynamite this week in Orlando. Shida lives in the area and was there visiting with the roster.
Shida only worked a handful of matches while in Japan last year, as she was also dealing with a shoulder injury. It appears there’s no set date for her return to AEW programming.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
