A top star was fired on TNA Impact this week following the fallout from the Feast or Fired match.
Last week on TNA Impact, Steve Maclin, Eric Young, Trey Miguel and Eddie Edwards competed in the annual Feast or Fired match which also featured several more stars. The bout also marked Miguel’s return to the company following his release from AEW.
The stipulation was simple but brutal: three briefcases would guarantee championship opportunities, while the fourth would result in the holder being fired from TNA. All four men managed to grab a briefcase, leaving their futures uncertain heading into this week’s show.
During a backstage segment on Impact, the contents of the briefcases were finally revealed. Edwards’ case earned him a shot at the TNA World Championship, while Miguel secured an opportunity at the TNA International Championship. Young, meanwhile, walked away with a future match for the TNA X-Division Championship.
That left Maclin as the odd man out. His briefcase contained the termination clause, officially firing the former TNA World Champion from the company. After the reveal, Young warned Maclin that his past choices would come back to haunt him, referencing their long on-screen history.
Maclin’s firing immediately raised questions about his future. Earlier this month, reports confirmed that he had signed a contract extension with TNA. It was noted that Maclin also had independent bookings through April.
With that in mind, it remains to be seen whether this firing will lead to Maclin exiting TNA altogether or it’s simply a storyline.
