Andrade is back in All Elite Wrestling, and a new report has revealed more details about his contract status.
The former WWE United States Champion made a surprising return on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite. There, Andrade ran in wearing a black mask and attacked Kenny Omega before revealing his identity. “El Idolo” then aligned himself with the Don Callis Family, sealing the partnership with a handshake with Don Callis.
After his return segment aired, Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported that Andrade signed a new contract with AEW. Andrade had been released by WWE earlier last month, but he didn’t have a non-compete clause as part of his termination. He is considered to be “full-time” with AEW and his return to AEW has been in motion “for at least a couple of weeks.”
Fightful noted that Andrade originally left AEW in 2023 on “less-than-ideal” terms. AEW believed they would re-sign him, but claimed that they found out he was leaving at the last minute. Despite the way Andrade’s AEW departure was handled, Tony Khan still praised him on the way out, and Andrade thanked Khan for the opportunity.
Andrade also commented on his motive after making his return, responding to a question about why he’s back in AEW.
