Sami Zayn wants WWE to bring a PLE to South America, naming Chile as his ideal destination.
The WWE have been bringing their biggest events all over the world in recent years. Over the past few years, they have run huge PLE’s in places like Wales, Scotland, France, Germany and Puerto Rico for the first time in their history.
With more and more countries welcoming the WWE, there has been talk about where they could head next. Sami Zayn certainly has been thinking about it, as he revealed recently.
Sami Zayn spoke with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, and pitched the idea of Chile hosting a PLE in the future. He thinks the local crowd in Santiago (the country’s capital city) is one of the best crowds in the entire world.
The WWE Intercontinental Champion also said that anywhere in Latin American would be great, while also complimenting Europe’s crowds too.
“One place I’ve been advocating for with regards to the international PLEs, is I would love to do a PLE in Santiago, Chile,” said Zayn. “I’ve long said that’s one of the best, if not the best, crowds in the world. They’re not playing a part. They’re not like, ‘We’re on TV, let’s show them what a good crowd we are.’”
“There is nothing wrong with that, but when you go perform there, there is an authentic passion that is hard to articulate, but you can feel it. I love that country and those people. I love Latin America, and I would love to have a PLE there and I would love to do something significant at a PLE there one day. Our fans are really good everywhere. You go to Europe, they’re amazing.”
Sami Zayn Also Wants To Wrestle In Africa And Antarctica
Not content with just Chile, Sami Zayn wants to bring the WWE to African and Antarctica. The Canadian has wrestled on every continent bar-those two, and even tried to convince a promoter to run a show in Antarctica.
WWE last toured South Africa in 2018, although Sami Zayn was not part of the tour.
“I would love to wrestle in Africa, South Africa we would run ages ago. Africa is my last continent, excluding Antarctica, but that would be awesome. When I wrestled in Chile in 2011, that’s the country that has the most land claim to Antarctica and is the closest country to it, so I was trying to get the independent promoter that I worked for to try to run a show in Antarctica just so I could do it. How historic would that be? The only person to run a show in Antarctica. Santiago is the first place that comes to mind, but there are so many places I haven’t been that I would love to do.”
“You say I’ve wrestled so many places, but the truth is, anybody who has been in WWE has probably wrestled in an equal number of countries because WWE goes there. I think the reason I have that reputation is because I did it before WWE and that was my MO, try to find as many countries as possible and wrestle in them all. If there is an opportunity to go somewhere that WWE hasn’t been already, I’d be up for that.”
