LA Knight thinks his rise to become the megastar of WWE has been a record-setting one.
Ever since shedding his Max Dupri skin and becoming LA Knight again in 2022, the former Million Dollar Champion has become one of the most popular wrestlers in the WWE.
Speaking with the Getting Over: Wrestling Podcast, LA Knight spoke about his journey to become a top star in the WWE.
He called it a “crazy ride”, describing his rise in the company as “damn near record-setting”. He also discussed his first day in training school, trying to impress trainers with his muscles.
“I can still remember my first day showing up to wrestling school in a tank top, thinking, ‘Oh, they’re going to see my muscles and just want me right in.’ What an idiot 19-year-old I was! It didn’t work that way.” said LA Knight.
“At the same time, I made sure to give myself as many advantages as I could, and even then, it was a hell of an uphill climb. So yeah, it’s been a crazy ride. Honestly, even though it’s been a long, long road, it’s felt like such a short and incredible journey. If you look at the last 10 or 12 months, it’s been damn near record-setting.”
“I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything quite like it. And if that gives you ‘douche chills,’ well, too bad—that’s just the truth. Look, you’ve had guys like Goldberg, who were meant to be in those positions. But here’s a guy (me) who had none of that—and still made it happen.”
“So yeah, I’ve got to toot my own horn. Toot-toot. Because I’ve been the only one doing it for this long, and I’m going to keep tooting it all the way down the road.” LA Knight added.
