One of the top talents in AEW is the “Samoan Submission Machine,” Samoa Joe. Joe has been a part of several promotions throughout his career. Everywhere the Samoan Submission Machine has been, he has held at least one major championship. He is a former ROH World Champion, a former ROH World Television Champion, a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion, a former NXT World Champion, and a former WWE United States Champion. He is also a former AEW World Heavyweight Champion.
Samoa Joe lost his AEW World Heavyweight Championship to Swerve Strickland at the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view. Recently, Joe was interviewed on the Busted Open podcast. During the interview, Joe mentioned that being given the opportunity to be the top champion in a wrestling promotion is always an honor.
“I mean obviously, it’s always a tremendous honor whenever you’re carrying the heavyweight championship or you know, the world championship. And I took it as such. Any time that I have been given the opportunity to step into that role, I try to go out there and give it our best shot and get people to tune in and see what we are doing. So, yeah, that’s about as much I can say about it man. It’s a good time and I look forward to getting back there sooner than later,” Joe said.
Joe is also looking forward to re-capture the AEW World Heavyweight Championship as soon as possible.
