Maria Kanellis is focused on family.
Kanellis has been the subject of a new rumor that claimed she was working as an agent for Ring Of Honor. She denied this report on Twitter, writing that she is only working for AEW/ROH as an on-air talent.
Maria said at one point, she did try and get her old job as booker of ROH’s Women’s division, but it did not materialize. For now, she remains focused on her family, her Women’s Wrestling Army promotion, and managing Griff Garrison and Cole Karter.
“Just saw some news about being a backstage agent at @ringofhonor. I’m not. I mentor the girls on my own time when I can,” Kanellis wrote. “I tried to get my old job back in ROH booking the women’s division but it didn’t work. So, I’m focused on family, finding a home for @WWrestlingArmy, and managing @griffgarrison1 and @realcolekarter”
Maria has been managing Garrison and Karter in Ring Of Honor since 2023, affectionately referring to them as her “baby boys.”
Women’s Wrestling Army
Maria Kanellis previously told WrestleZone that she envisioned Women’s Wrestling Army finding a home on HonorClub in the future. Kanellis said she had talks with Tony Khan about making that happen, but it was still early in the process.
Tony Khan commented on those discussions during his ROH Supercard Of Honor post-show media scrum. Khan told WrestleZone’s Bill Pritchard that despite those talks, the focus at the time was building up the Ring Of Honor brand.
Maria later appeared on AEW Unrestricted in July 2023 and expanded her thoughts on the potential partnership, noting that it might not be the right time now, but she still hopes Women’s Wrestling Army will be the all-women’s show when the time is right.
“So every three months right now, because we no longer have our contract with Pro Wrestling TV, we’re looking for a new place for Women’s Wrestling Army to call home, so I know where I would like it to be, but it’s all timing. With everything that is happening with AEW and with the growth that it’s had so far. The time will come where there’ll be an all-women’s wrestling show, and hopefully, we’ll be that all-women’s wrestling show.”
