Kevin Sullivan is one of the veterans of the professional wrestling business. He is a former WCW World Tag Team Champion. Recently, the former WCW Superstar shared his thoughts on WWE’s Brawl for All tournament.
The Brawl for All tournament took place in 1998. The tournament had a total of 16 participants. This was supposed to be a battle between all the competitors in a series of ‘shoot’ fights. A ‘shoot’ fight is basically giving the license for the wrestlers to actually settle their real-life beef with stars inside the ring with an actual fistfight. This resulted in a series of injuries. While speaking on a recent episode of the Tuesday with the Taskmaster podcast, Sullivan mentioned that the tournament was a bad idea and resulted in ruining many wresters’ momentums.
“That thing was one of the stupidest ideas ever. These matches are gonna be real, and the rest of it is bullshit? I mean, no one looked good,” Kevin Sullivan said. [H/T InsideTheRopes]
Kevin Sullivan reveals the one thing that is common between The Bloodline, NWO, and The Horsemen
While speaking with Wrestlezone’s own Bill Pritchard, the former WCW World Tag Team Champion shared what he believes is the one common factor between The Bloodline, NWO, and The Horsemen.
“But do you know what the Horsemen, The Bloodline, and the nWo have in common? There was only four guys in the group.” Kevin Sullivan said. “And each had a great manager, the manager of his time. And then the nWo, I think, splintered when we started just passing on T-shirts; I think they should never have gone past Syxx Pac, Hulk, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash.
“The one that was very, very important, think about this, Syxx Pac was like at the bottom of the ladder for the people. But he was the guy the fans knew they could beat him up; who’s a snot-nosed little kid? He’s in two Hall of Fame’s for two different groups: DX and the nWo. He was very, very important.
“But again, like I said, they had JJ Dillon for the Horsemen. They had Eric for the nWo, and then they had Paul E for The Bloodline. I think that’s a perfect number. Because once you start expanding, your eyes can’t take in 30 guys with black and white t-shirts on. I think that right now, wrestling is as hot as it’s ever been. In fact, I think it’s hotter. When AEW drew that 81,000 people, they sold over 70,000 without even announcing a match? That’s pretty phenomenal.”
