Ilja Dragunov has challenged for the NXT Championship on multiple occasions, including NXT Great American Bash 2023, where Carmelo Hayes beat him to retain the title. Dragunov had another shot at Hayes’ gold at NXT No Mercy, and he capitalized on the opportunity.
Hayes and Dragunov threw everything they had at each other in a match that had the fans on the edge of their seats.
It took multiple H-Bombs, but Dragunov eventually hit his signature move one final time to clinch the victory. Hayes shook Dragunov’s hand, and they embraced.
Hayes’ reign began when he beat Bron Breakker at NXT Stand & Deliver 2023. He held the title for 182 days. Dragunov is a former NXT UK Champion, and his reign spanned 347 days.
