Former WWE Superstar Lana (now known as CJ Perry) recently opened up about her ambitions in AEW.
The former Ravishing Russian made a surprise debut on the Jacksonville-based promotion at the AEW All Out pay-per-view. She showed up to help her husband Miro. The Redeemer was being attacked by Powerhouse Will Hobbs after their match. Perry showed up and caused a distraction by hitting Hobbs with the steel chair. This helped Miro to recover and take out his opponent.
After Hobbs was taken out, Miro was surprised to see his wife. He then walked away yelling that she was not real.
This past Saturday night on AEW Collision, CJ Perry opened up for the first time on the Jacksonville-based promotion. She also revealed that she is ready to be a manager just like how she was back in WWE.
Following the segment, the former Ravishing Russian took to Twitter to reveal that she is in the hunt for championship gold.
“You might have left but my drive for gold did not. #Forsaken,” CJ Perry tweeted.
CJ Perry says she was inspired by WWE veteran Paul Heyman
The former WWE Superstar was recently interviewed by Wrestlezone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. Perry spoke about her time in WWE and reminisced about her rivalry against Nia Jax.
During the same interview, Perry opened up about one of her mentors Paul Heyman. She thanked Heyman for giving her enough time on the microphone to establish her character.
The former Ravishing Russian also claimed that Heyman is one of the main reasons for Roman Reigns’ current run as the Undisputed Universal Champion.
“He’s so charismatic, of course. He can talk his ass off, but he’s also a lot of times the brains behind the operation, and he in my opinion is really the huge success behind Roman and his heel turn. He’s a wordsmith. I was about to get my amazing contract for the last two years because Paul Heyman was the showrunner and he put me in this incredible story. Yeah, it was very controversial, it was very, people loved it and hated it. But the numbers didn’t lie, and I’m so thankful for those last two years of that contract that I got. I’m so forever grateful that Paul gave me that opportunity and gave me that time on the mic. So, so grateful for that. I just think that he’s an incredibly creative mind,” Perry said.
CJ Perry has joined her husband in AEW. Only time will tell how her run in the Tony Khan-led promotion goes by.
