Natalya is really excited to wrestle in Montreal this weekend at WWE Elimination Chamber.
SmackDown Superstar Natalya was a recent guest on WWE’s The Bump to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about what it will be like for her to compete in Canada again this Saturday night at WWE Elimination Chamber, Natalya said she’s really excited to get back to Canada and wrestle in front of her people.
“I am so excited to get back to Canada and wrestle in front of my people,” Natalya said. “It’s funny because Dolph Ziggler once said to me, he’s like, ‘Nattie, you guys don’t own all of Canada. The Harts don’t own all of Canada,’ but we kind of do. Montreal is really important to my family. There’s a ton of history in Montreal with my family and WWE. And to be honest, Canada isn’t just about the Hart family, like the history with Canada, the history with our Canadian superstars, and our Canadian fans.
“It’s such a strong history in WWE. I mean, not that Ronda [Rousey] and Shayna [Baszler] would know anything about that. But for me to be able to get back to Canada, to be able to get back to doing what I love. While I had that time off from recovering from my broken nose. The one thing that I pride myself so much on is staying ready.
“I always say that to anybody that comes down to my dungeon and trains with me or TJ [Wilson]. I always say, ‘Don’t get ready; stay ready.’ So while everybody else has been off doing their own thing, I’ve been training in my ring and staying ready because you just never know when there’s going to be an opportunity that presents itself, and I think that’s why I was so ready for the opportunities that I had, winning the qualifying match to get into Chamber and then going into Chamber this weekend I feel the most ready that I’ve ever felt.”
When asked about what she’s expecting from the Canadian crowd this weekend, Nattie speaks about how much energy they give her every time she walks down the aisle to compete inside that ring.
“The energy from our audience is everything,” Natalya admitted. “So for me going back to Canada and wrestling, I would say Canada is Hart country. When you think of the Harts, you think of Canada, and I think of everything that my grandfather Stu Hart built. And then he passed on to my uncles, Owen Hart and Bret Hart, and to my dad and the entire Hart family. And so for me, whenever I go back there, I just think about the rich legacy that I have with the Canadian fans, and it charges me, It fuels me, It inspires me, and I’m excited.
“I feel like I never want to beg for somebody to give me a reaction, but I am going to walk out on that stage in Montreal with so much pride knowing that, like the fans in Canada, understand they get it. They feel our passion, and they understand where I came from and that I’m so proud of my roots. I’m excited. I think being from Canada, it gives me that little — I feel extra nervous.
“The fans are going to charge me in an amazing way, but I feel like I don’t want to let them down, especially in Montreal is like it’s the home of one of the most infamous stories in WWE history when we think about Bret Hart and Montreal and so it’s the same place. So I want to make Montreal proud, and I’m going to do that this Saturday at Elimination Chamber.”
