“The Enforcer” Arn Anderson is trading in his Glock for a pen.
For the first time since 2000, the WWE Hall of Famer has released an autobiography. This time, however, Anderson unveiled a new autobiographical graphic novel entitled Arn Anderson: My Life as The Enforcer. Launched on Tuesday, November 15, the 128-page book details the life and in-ring career of the former Four Horseman member. Dirk Manning wrote it with the help of Anderson himself.
Manning also serves on the Source Point Press publishing team as the Special Projects Manager. In a recent chat with ComiCon.com, he discussed translating Anderon’s life into a distinct, graphic novel form.
“Arn’s life is so fascinating that we could easily write several graphic novels about it,” he said, “and maybe someday we will, but this book serves as a look at how his early years growing up in rural Georgia helped define his approach to the life of professional wrestling, including details and stories that have never been documented anywhere else ever before!”
With “modern narration framing vignettes” illustrated by Shawn Daley and “extended flashback storytelling sequences” illustrated by Colm Griffin, the book has officially debuted on Kickstarter in partnership with Source Point Press publishing.
Dirk Manning further explained the decision to utilize Kickstarter. The campaign launch includes a Kickstarter Exclusive Hardcover edition of the book. As a bonus, there’s even more opportunities for exclusive add-ons. “Anyone who wants to have for themselves – or gift to a friend – everything we’ll be offering through this campaign should sign-up for notification now,” Manning said. “Make sure to pledge for what [you] want early! Remember, the more people who pledge, the more everyone gets!”
Arn Anderson recently opened up on “The Arn Show” about why now he waited over two decades to compose his second autobiography. “The time just never seemed right,” he said. I was working all the time, had a full-time career, and it just didn’t feel right.”
Anderson’s first autobiography, Arn Anderson 4 Ever: A Look Behind the Curtain, detailed his first 15 years in the professional wrestling business. Now, his new project is a mix of autobiography and comic book elements. “It’s not completely one or the other,” he continued, “but it’s got a lot of details about my life that most people won’t know. When they hear it, they’ll go ‘god, that’s my situation. That’s what happened to me.’ These are not necessarily all happy situations, some of them are, some of them [aren’t], most people are gonna scratch their head and go ‘God almighty. I didn’t know that.'”
“So, it’s going to be an interesting read,” Anderson said.
