More details have come to light regarding Bandido‘s AEW contract.
The former ROH World Champion made his AEW debut on the September 18 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he unsuccessfully challenged reigning champion Chris Jericho for the gold. Since then, there have been conflicting reports about him signing with the company, but he is advertised for the November 11 episode of AEW Rampage.
In the newest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported more information about Bandido’s move to AEW. Per Meltzer, the contract is a three-year deal with the maximum amount of dates. The exact number was not specified, but it was noted that it exceeds the amount of matches most AEW wrestlers currently work in a year. Meltzer also addressed WWE’s interest in the former ROH star; the company offered him a deal, but Bandido reportedly chose to sign with AEW because his family is in Mexico, and he doesn’t want want them to have to move.
Likewise, he didn’t want to take a deal that would prevent him from seeing his child; signing with WWE probably would have required him to move to Florida, where NXT is based, and a potential main roster call-up would have required him to be on the road on a regular basis, whereas AEW’s schedule is less intense.
Bandido will compete on the November 11 episode of AEW Rampage; he will face Brian Cage in an AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament Match.
