Dan Lambert knew it was time to leave All Elite Wrestling, but he’d return if the right opportunity came up.
During a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Dan Lambert spoke about his tenure in All Elite Wrestling. Lambert said that he enjoyed himself during his run, but shared that he took himself off of television during what he felt was an appropriate transition period.
“I can’t tell you how much fun I was having. It was like the coolest thing ever,” Lambert said.
“Maybe about two months ago, we finished up our feud with The Men of the Year and Scorpio Sky against Wardlow. Sky dropped the belt to Wardlow, [he] was going to take a couple of months off because he had a knee injury that needed to heal and [Ethan] Page was getting repackaged to do what he’s doing now with The Firm and the work with MJF,” Lambert explained. “So I just thought that was a good time that, you know, it seemed like it was winding down, I felt like I was getting stale.
“Even though the reactions were still good, it was still fun, but I just grabbed Tony Khan after that show and said, ‘Yeah, I think it’s run its course. I don’t want to go backwards or overstay my welcome. So I think that’s going to do it for me.’ He was like, ‘Oh, man. Sure. Whatever you want. Maybe if we come up with a good idea you can come back in the future.’ [I said] Yeah, sure, whatever. Call me,’” Lambert added. “I mean if Tony called me tomorrow and said, ‘Hey I’ve got a good idea. Do you wanna do it?,’ and it was a good idea, I’d say, ‘Sure, why not?’”
Lambert made his AEW debut in 2021 and made regular appearances until Scorpio Sky lost the TNT Championship to Wardlow in July. Scorpio Sky has not competed since the TNT title loss on July 6.
