The “Heels” producers are excited for the upcoming wrestler appearances on the Starz series.
“Heels” is an upcoming series on Starz that will center around two brothers and the family drama that unfolds in a local small-time independent wrestling promotion. Appearing on the series will be several professional wrestlers, including CM Punk.
Speaking with IGN, the producers of the show crazed CM Punk’s work as Ricky Rabies on the upcoming series.
“Yeah, but CM Punk, the best in the world, shows up in the show and delivers just a tremendous performance. So you know CM Punk’s return to the wrestling ring that everybody’s been chanting for all these years and I’m proud that we finally got to do it in our show. But the guy’s a hell of an actor,” said Michael Waldron.
Also, it is revealed that WWE Hall of Famer, Mick Foley will be appearing on the show and a cameo capacity. Stephen Amell, who plays the main character on the show, went on to praise Mick Foley for his cameo role as a podcast host and then reiterated how well CM Punk did in his role.
“Yeah, Mick Foley, the hardcore legend himself, plays a podcast host actually who’s interviewing Jack about about an upcoming show and so that was really fun.You would hope that if the show comes out and is successful, that we can start to tap into the world of professional wrestling and and have some more people from from the industry on the show because it just sort of, I don’t know gives us a lot of street cred. But I will tell you this, they better bring it because Phil, especially with the character of Ricky Rabies, who appears in a couple of episodes of the first season. He set the bar very, very high.”
CM Punk is currently in talks about an official return to the wrestling ring, reportedly with AEW. AEW will be in Chicago on Friday, August 20 at the United Center with AEW Rampage: The First Dance.
