It’s almost time for WWE Money in the Bank!
WWE’s upcoming PLE goes down at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena (Canada) on Saturday, July 6. The sports entertainment juggernaut has confirmed five matches at the time of this writing. Tune in at 7pm ET for the main show on Peacock exclusively in the U.S. and WWE Network elsewhere.
Now, let’s dive right into our Money in the Bank preview and predictions.
Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match
Participants: Andrade, Carmelo Hayes, Chad Gable, Drew McIntyre, Jey Uso, LA Knight
Backdrop: Jey Uso became the first person to qualify for Men’s Money in the Bank. The YEET Master defeated Rey Mysterio and Finn Balor on 6/17 WWE RAW. The following SmackDown saw Carmelo Hayes and Andrade both punch their ticket to Toronto. Chad Gable claimed RAW’s spot in his triple threat against Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed on 6/24 RAW. LA Knight claimed the blue brand’s final spot, while Drew McIntyre bested Ilja Dragunov and Sheamus in a banger of a match on the July 1 episode of RAW.
Prediction: The 2024 Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match features two of the most popular stars on the WWE roster. Jey Uso is RAW’s fan favorite. LA Knight, on the other hand, has been SmackDown’s consistent attraction for quite some time now. Then, you have Drew McIntyre, whose feud with CM Punk is arguably the best thing happening on the red brand today. I’m assuming both Knight and McIntyre have major feuds lined up for SummerSlam leaving Jey Uso as the only plausible choice to win WWE Money in the Bank this year.
Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match
Participants: Chelsea Green, IYO SKY, Lyra Valkyria, Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, Zoey Stark
Backdrop: Former MITB winner IYO SKY took RAW’s first spot by beating Kiana James and Zelina Vega on 6/17 RAW. Chelsea Green became SmackDown’s first qualifier through her defeat of Bianca Belair and Michin. Lyra Valkyria joined the two women on 6/24 WWE RAW. Tiffany Stratton and Naomi clinched SmackDown’s final two spots on 6/28, while Zoey Stark punched her ticket to Toronto on 7/1 RAW.
Prediction: Chelsea Green has had the most consistent showing on WWE television in the last year. For that, she is my pick as the winner in the 2024 Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. Tiffany Stratton and Lyra Valkyria might’ve had superior matches, but Chelsea stood out with her ‘Karen’ gimmick. The sky is the limit for Stratton and Valkyria. I’m sure they’ll get their fair share of accolades when the time comes.
Sami Zayn (c) vs. Bron Breakker – Intercontinental Championship match at WWE Money in the Bank
Backdrop: Bron Breakker showed up on 6/17 WWE RAW to interrupt Sami Zayn’s promo. The former two-time NXT Champion got in the Intercontinental Champion’s face, telling him to put his title on the line. Both men were interrupted by Sheamus leading to a singles match between Breakker and the Celtic Warrior, which ended due to Ludwig Kaiser’s interference. After Breakker speared both Kaiser and Sheamus the following week, he confronted Sami backstage, who agreed to put his title on the line at WWE Money in the Bank.
Prediction: Sami Zayn has already had some solid title defenses against the likes of Chad Gable and Bronson Reed. He returns to his home country of Canada as a defending champion this Saturday. Competing in front of his home crowd will add to his confidence. That said, Breakker is a completely different breed. The second-generation Steiner has mauled everyone, including Ricochet, who’s stepped up to him so far on RAW. However, Zayn would most likely take advantage of Breakker in a moment of weakness to pick up the win.
Damian Priest (c) vs. Seth Rollins – World Heavyweight Championship
Backdrop: Seth Rollins made his surprise comeback on 6/17 WWE RAW. The Visionary was confronted by Damian Priest, who said he wanted to return an old favor by putting his title on the line against Seth at Money in the Bank. The Visionary would up the ante by saying he won’t challenge for the world title as long as Priest stays champion, in case of a loss in Canada. However, Priest would have to leave The Judgment Day if he drops the title to Rollins.
Prediction: Rollins noted similarities between his and Priest’s first world title win during their 6/17 promo exchange. Both men share competitive respect. However, Priest – no matter how much he denies – is still living under Judgment Day’s shadows. The face turn has been teased on for months now. Drew said Priest was a transitional champion. I think Priest retains, but only after a hard-fought battle, with some interferences, against Rollins this Saturday in Toronto.
Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens & Randy Orton vs. The Bloodline
Backdrop: Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa attacked Cody Rhodes following his win against AJ Styles at WWE Clash at the Castle. Randy Orton and Kevin Owens made the save. Solo brought Jacob Fatu to the mix on 6/21 SmackDown. The Samoan Werewolf singled-handedly cleaned the house before revealing himself as the newest member of The Bloodline. Fatu and the Tonga brothers would put Paul Heyman through the table after Heyman refused to acknowledge Solo as the Tribal Chief on the following SmackDown.
Prediction: WWE has announced that any three members of The Bloodline would compete at Money in the Bank. I’m assuming Jacob and the Tonga brothers will do Solo’s bidding against Cody, KO and Randy. Speaking of Randy, the veteran has been giving side-eye to the WWE Championship as of late.
Are we finally going to get Rhodes versus Orton at SummerSlam 2024? The seeds could very well be planted this Saturday after The Bloodline takes out Cody, KO and Randy.
