It was announced yesterday that Netflix’s original, pro wrestling-centric series GLOW tied for most nominations at the 24th annual Screen Actor’s Guild Awards.
Their nominations include:
- Best TV Comedy Ensemble
- Best TV Comedy Actress (Alison Brie)
- Best TV Comedy Actor (Marc Maron)
- Best TV Stunt Team
It’s interesting that GLOW would receive the best TV Stunt Team nomination since pro wrestling has never been nominated in a category like that. That’s a pretty big deal. I’m still not totally sure why WWE Superstars aren’t members of SAG.
WrestleZone has been told that the stunt team for GLOW consists of Chavo Guerrero (Wrestling Coordinator), Shauna Duggins (Stunt Coordinator) and Helena Barrett (Start Utility).
WrestleZone reached out to Chavo for comment about the nomination and received the following response:
It is a pretty big day for wrestling. To be included alongside such great shows like Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Stranger Things and Homeland. I guess it’s something I’ve been working for since I was three years old. Thank you to our cast for trusting us and thank you to our producers for giving us what we needed to succeed. Still bigger and better things to come.
The 2018 SAG Awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 21st. Kristen Bell will serve as the ceremony’s first-ever host.
