Smackdown Live Superstar Aiden English picked up an unlikely victory over Tye Dillinger at Sunday night’s WWE Battleground pay-per-view, albeit as a part of the kickoff show. We say “unlikely” not because the self-proclaimed “Maestro of Melody” isn’t a capable performer, but because this was actually his first win of any kind on a WWE pay-per-view. He debuted on the main roster in April 2016.
Additionally, this was only English’s third singles victory in a WWE ring. One of those wins came by disqualification at the hands of Randy Orton on a recent episode of Smackdown Live, making it only his second win by pinfall. The first came more than one year ago when he defeated Kofi Kingston on Smackdown television. English was previously a member of a tag team alongside former WWE Superstar Simon Gotch, winning the NXT Tag Team Championships.
Philadelphia was the birthplace of that annoying, unending “10” chant? Well that’s apropos as tonight it meets its death… #Battleground
