Samoa Joe
As noted earlier, Samoa Joe was seated at ringside for tonight’s NXT Takeover: San Antonio event. Wrestling statistician Darren Bongiovanni noted this was not only the first NXT Takeover event that Joe did not main event since NXT Takeover: Respect (October 7th, 2015 Sasha Banks vs Bayley), but it’s the first one Joe didn’t compete at since NXT Takeover: Unstoppable (May 20th, 2015).
Joe made his debut at the Unstoppable event, appearing in a non-wrestling role, coming to the aid of Sami Zayn after Kevin Owens had attacked him in the main event of the night.
Bobby Roode
The following videos feature Bobby Roode’s first comments after defeating Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT Championship tonight at NXT Takeover: San Antonio.
First, Roode comes through the curtain moments after WWE went off air, followed by a more formal interview. Roode shows his frustration about being asked if Nakamura would have won while healthy, then talks about doing what he said and starting his new era:
