Sheamus MITB
Shane Shoemaker has a new blog on CSRWrestling.com talking about Sheamus’ MITB. Here’s a sample:
Money in the Bank was created if nothing more than as another thriller match to increase the WrestleMania 21 card. The concept and overall conclusion of the match — and later on the surprising out-of-nowhere outcome of the cash-in — left plenty of interest for more matches, including later the stand-alone pay-per-view.
And that leaves us to where we are now: seventeen matches, fourteen overall successful cash-in’s, three unsuccessful winners, and one current holder. Lots of success, little misery — where does Sheamus find himself?
Technically, Seth Rollins is the latest to cash-in since the unifying of both world titles. John Cena’s Money in the Bank ladder match at the self-titled pay-per-view was for the then vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship. When there were two world titles, the idea of multiple cash-in’s seemed watered-down and one title was never valued as much as the other it seemed. Being that there is only the one title to cash-in on now, it [should] make whoever the Money in the Bank winner is even more valuable because of where you want to go in storylines in the future. And though it’s been rumored that Sheamus is or was scheduled for a run with the title in the near future, being that this is the pro-wrestling business, it doesn’t seem quite so guaranteed.
First of all, if John Cena can lose, then anyone can — even though Cena didn’t need to win, in his current position, you could say that Sheamus needs to win. Secondly, in the current storyline and the elevating of Seth Rollins, it doesn’t make much sense right now to have Rollins drop the title. Sure, there’s the rumored Triple H/Seth Rollins feud — and not to mention anything else that can happen that we, the fans, actually don’t know about already — but the plan it always seems to be on is: How does this get us to WrestleMania?
