Kurt Angle came out to RAW for the very last time as an active in-ring competitor. As his farewell tour wrapped up, Angle addressed the crowd. “I want you to know how appreciative I am for the good times, the bad times. I’ve heard a lot of boos, but mostly cheers. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you.”
A beautiful video package was then shown displaying Angle’s achievements. From amateur wrestling to the WWE ring, Angle achieved nearly every accolade possible. Afterwards, Angle started tearing up as the crowd chanted, “Thank you Kurt!”
This beautiful moment was interrupted by his WrestleMania 35 opponent Baron Corbin. “Aw, Kurt. Am I interrupting a stroll through memory lane?” mocking asked Corbin. “It should’ve been in black and white because it’s ancient history. The man standing in that ring struggles to take his jacket off and can’t go two to three minutes without huffing or puffing. You can’t hang with the superstars of today. We’re just plain better.”
Corbin then said that Angle still has the intensity, but he lacks the intelligence he once had. Before Corbin could escape, Rey Mysterio came down. Mysterio was originally scheduled to face Angle. Instead, he challenged Corbin to a match. The heel said he wasn’t going to do that but then took a cheap shot at Mysterio. Angle then started to defend his friend and Corbin ran off after taking some damage.
The match would take place in the third hour of the show. Corbin dominated most of the affair as he overpowered the smaller veteran. The end came when Corbin dodged a five-star frogsplash and hit End of Days on Mysterio.
