Former WWE Superstar, Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling star Shelton Benjamin will be taking some time off from pro wrestling. Benjamin tweeted out Saturday night:
As of tonight Im taking time off from wrestling to take care of a long neglected medical issue. So I assure you all I will not be at the R.R

The three-time Intercontinental Champion went on to note that he has a pinched ulnar nerve in his elbow. The issue is similar to carpal tunnel syndrome, but can cause loss of sensation, motor function, muscular atrophy and eventually, loss of the hand, as Benjamin noted on Twitter. The self-proclaimed "Gold Standard" also noted that he was lucky this is one of the only injuries he's ever sustained, after 12 years in the business.
Shelton Benjamin is best known with US-based wrestling fans for his time with the WWE between 2002 and 2010 where he won multiple singles titles, and was a part of Team Angle and The World's Greatest Tag Team alongside Charlie Haas.
