WWE Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella recently participated in an interview with New Zealand’s NZPWI. Below are some excerpts:
The Santino Marella character: “It evolved very naturally. You know, they say every good character, the real person must be there. Like â<80><9c>Stone Coldâ<80> Steve Austin, Undertaker, Batistaâ<80>¦ you meet these people, you realise man, this is like the guy on TV. And, thatâ<80><99>s like me! When asked if it was frustrating playing a comedy character: “Nope. Not at all. I have an intense Judo background, and when the time is right, and Iâ<80><99>m able to unleash my skills, people are going to accept it, they have to accept it, because itâ<80><99>s real.”
On working with Maria and Beth Phoenix: “Ah, both girls are very professional, both girls are chicks, you know, they come with their goods and bads, they a little bit crazy, but, you got to love them, you know? You canâ<80><99>t live with them, canâ<80><99>t live without them, right?”
His pick for his opponent at Cyber Sunday: “Oh, good question! You see I have some unfinished business with Roddy â<80><9c>The Piperâ<80> but I would like to smash the Honky Tonky Man because Iâ<80><99>m gonna beat his record. What better to pair it up with, than to beat him as well?”
Nick was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and lived there until the age of 18, when he decided to pack his flack jacket and move to New York City.
