The Undertaker says he’s working more with WWE now than he did during his final decade of wrestling.
WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker recently sat down for an interview on the INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet podcast at Fanatics Fest. During the conversation, he opened up about how retirement has been treating him. He replied that he’s busier now than the last decade he spent on the road wrestling. He’s been working backstage with AAA since WWE acquired the promotion last year.
“I can’t tell. I work more now than the last 10 years I was on the road wrestling. I’m always gone. I’m always at places like this now. So, yeah, retirement is not quite how I envisioned it,” The Undertaker said.
The Undertaker realized he had to retire from WWE in 2020
Chris Van Vliet then asked him at what point in his career he realized it was nearing its end. The Undertaker replied, “Unfortunately, way too late. I think it was November 22nd, 2020, when it dawned on me like, ‘You might need to find something else to do here.”
When asked if he was thinking about it before 2020, The Undertaker said, “I was thinking about wrapping it up, but I envisioned myself like, ‘Alright, I’m going hunting and doing all those things that I wasn’t really able to do while I was on the road.’ That’s what I started out doing, and then things started popping up. I started doing a podcast, and then this thing came up, and that thing came up, and all of a sudden my calendar is full again. I hadn’t been out on a mountain or on a lake in a while. So it’s really cutting into my outdoor life.”
