AJ Styles offered some veteran advice to the recently released WWE Superstars.
Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles offered some advice to the recently released superstars. The promotion released several main roster and developmental talent after WrestleMania 42, including notable names like Aleister Black, Kairi Sane, and the entire Wyatt Sicks. It was then followed by the exits of The New Day, Tonga Loa, and JC Mateo.
AJ Styles noted that the fear of an unfinished career can be hard to overcome, and that he himself has faced it. However, he urged the wrestlers not to let the setback bother them and not to let the industry define their self-worth. He also asked the wrestlers to keep their heads up and look towards the future and where it takes them next.
“My biggest fear in my own career was that I wouldn’t get to finish. It’s kind of one of those things where they didn’t get to finish what they signed to do and I know that’s going to bother them. Don’t let it bother you. Don’t let this business destroy who you are. You are obviously great because you made it to one of the biggest wrestling companies in the world,” AJ Styles said.
“We have no idea what the circumstances were to get you where you couldn’t be there in the WWE anymore. But that doesn’t mean it’s over for you. So, just keep that in mind. Keep your head up and see whether it takes you next. Who knows where that’d be. It maybe wrestling, maybe not, but just don’t let it destroy you,” AJ Styles said. [H/T SI.com]
