Rebel shared a deeply personal health update on Friday, posting an emotional video (via X & IG) that shed light on a long and difficult medical journey — one that has now reached a heartbreaking turning point.
The AEW personality, also known as Tanea Brooks, addressed fans directly, reflecting on months of uncertainty amid the search for answers.
What she revealed, however, was not the outcome many were hoping for.
Rebel opens up on diagnosis after two-year medical journey
Rebel explained that her health issues date back to 2024, when she was first hospitalized with a lung mass. Over time, she underwent multiple treatments, including surgery in 2025, while doctors worked to understand a range of symptoms affecting her mobility and speech.
In her video, she said, “First, I want to say thank you for all your prayers, because for those who know, I spent a two-year medical journey trying to find out what is wrong.” She added, “And finally, our prayers have been answered. The thing is, sometimes we don’t want to hear the answer to our prayers.”
According to Rebel, the diagnosis came while she was preparing for lung surgery at Mayo Clinic. “The doctors have diagnosed me with terminal ALS,” she said. “There is not a lot of research behind ALS, and we don’t know how long I have, but it explains why I have trouble walking and talking, and all my functions will soon decline.”
Despite the gravity of the situation, Rebel expressed gratitude toward Tony Khan and AEW for their support. “I wanna say thank you to Tony Khan and AEW for supporting me on this medical journey. It has been a blessing that is unheard of.”
She closed her message with a request to fans, asking them to “please continue to pray for a peaceful journey and a peaceful passing.”
Rebel’s story is a reminder that sometimes the toughest battles happen outside the ring — where there are no count-outs, only courage.
