Tony Khan recently spoke about the controversy involving Ricochet, and he handled it clearly. He did not avoid the question and he addressed it directly.
The issue started when Ricochet replied to a fan on X, formerly known as Twitter. The fan criticized his acting, and Ricochet responded with a harsh comment, writing: “I’m glad you got MS.” The comment quickly caused backlash online, and many fans were upset.
However, Ricochet later apologized for what he said, admitting he went too far.
“I took out my hatred for the IWC… She didn’t deserve it,” Ricochet said. “Moving forward I’ll do better.”
Tony Khan says Ricochet’s comment crossed the line
During the AEW Dynasty post-show media scrum, Khan was asked about the situation. He confirmed that he spoke with Ricochet directly. He said, “I did, and I had a conversation with him. I have a good conversation and a frank talk. That was not acceptable.”
He did not defend the comment and also reinforced that AEW has rules in place.
“I think that was communicated. We have a policy and continues to be a policy in place for such things, and that violated it. There is no place for that in wrestling or anywhere.”
At the same time, Khan said they are trying to move forward. “I do appreciate you asking, and we’ve tried to move past that, but thank you for asking.” [H/T: Fightful]
Despite the controversy, Ricochet still competed at AEW Dynasty. He picked up a win over Chris Jericho, who recently returned after a long absence.
