Tony Khan Confirms This Star Was Originally Scheduled for AEW Dynasty

Tony Khan recently confirmed that plans for AEW Dynasty looked very different at one point. Some big names were originally set for the show, but things changed along the way.

One of those names was Toni Storm. The former AEW Women’s World Champion has been absent from TV since AEW wrote her off with a backstage attack last month. Reports suggest she may stay away for a while, though it is not due to an injury.

Tony Khan says Toni Storm was originally planned for AEW Dynasty

Speaking at the AEW Dynasty post-show media scrum, Khan talked about the changes made to the card. He revealed that Storm was originally expected to compete, then both confirmed Storm and Kyle Fletcher were planned for major spots.

“They (Storm & Kyle Fletcher) were to both been a big part of it. They’re both a huge part of AEW. Any time I can have Kyle Fletcher, The Protostar, or ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm involved in an AEW event, it’s very important. So, coming out of Revolution, I expected them each to be in matches on the show.” [H/T: Fightful]

As for Fletcher, reports revealed that he may be dealing with a meniscus injury. That situation also affected the card. It even led to changes around the TNT Championship. Kevin Knight won the vacant AEW TNT Championship at the pay-per-view. He secured the title by winning a 10-man Casino Gauntlet match.
