TNA’s Mike Santana Says AEW Release Changed His Life

Mike Santana recently spoke about his AEW release and how it completely changed his life. He did not hold back at all. He called it a turning point in his career and personal life.

Santana left AEW in March 2024 after asking for his release himself. He felt stuck creatively and mentally during that time. Burnout was real for him back then. He also wanted to focus on building a singles career going forward.

After leaving, he started to rebuild everything step by step. He rebranded himself and moved to TNA Wrestling. That decision slowly paid off in a big way. He worked on himself outside the ring as well. He focused on his personal struggles and made serious changes. He achieved sobriety after hitting what he called rock bottom.

That moment changed everything for him going forward. Over time, he became stronger both mentally and physically. In 2026, he reached the top when he became TNA World Champion and proved himself once more.

That reign was disappointingly short. However, earlier this year, Santana again became TNA World Champion and stayed on a strong run. He has been building momentum with every match. Now, he has reflected on his success after leaving AEW.

Mike Santana says his AEW release motivated him to rebuild his career

Mike Santana shared his thoughts on X, formerly known as Twitter. He opened up about his journey and struggles. He wrote, “2 years ago today, I was granted my release. I put a plan together for myself and began to execute. It was the best thing I did for my life and career. Idgaf how long it was going to take but I knew I was going to get shit done!”

“I’ve sacrificed too much and after everything I went thru the last few years, I had a fire burning inside that I wasn’t going to let anything extinguish. But above all, my daughter gotta eat! And that she will, by any means! 2 years later, it’s amazing to see what I’ve been able to accomplish. It’s been such an amazing ride and to think that this is just the beginning, is so exciting. Follow your heart. That shit never lies.”

Now, Santana is enjoying his success in TNA and staying focused. But a big challenge is waiting for him very soon. Eddie Edwards will challenge him for the TNA World Title. The match will headline the TNA Rebellion event in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 11.
