This former WWE RAW Superstar wasn’t a fan of an infamous segment involving Ozzy Osbourne.
The guest host era of WWE had its fair share of memorable moments. On November 2, 2009, Vince McMahon brought in Ozzy Osbourne and his wife, Sharon Osbourne, as the special guest hosts. The Osbournes were tasked with judging a performance segment featuring The Great Khali, with Jerry Lawler hosting the so-called auditions.
As the segment unfolded, Chris Masters appeared on the stage and performed his signature pec-popping routine to Ozzy’s “Crazy Train,” a moment that visibly amused the rock legend.
Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Masters admitted he wasn’t a fan of the concept from the outset, as he preferred to avoid comedic segments. However, once the decision was made, he committed fully and aimed to deliver the best performance possible, despite his initial reservations.
“Oh, boy. I don’t know whose idea that was, but I didn’t like it right from the start, because I didn’t want to be doing comedic stuff really. But I also knew that there was a point where I was like, All right, well, if I’m going to do this, let me just try to do it the best I can,” the former WWE RAW star said.

While the crowd responded positively, he later felt that the success of the bit worked against him, as it kept getting repeated to the point where it became excessive and lost its appeal. “This is funny once or twice, but to do it [every week], if I was a fan, by the third time of it I’m like enough. So when I always think about that, it was funny, but I always hate the fact that it’s like okay, now let’s do this every week in some fashion. As a fan, I don’t think I’d like this,” Masters recalled.
The real-life Chris Adonis also reflected on the moment involving Ozzy Osbourne, noting that what stood out most was Ozzy’s genuine enjoyment, which he found meaningful after his passing. He added that Sharon Osbourne’s playful interaction added to the humor of the segment.
“So we lost Ozzy not that long ago, so a lot of the clips came up of that segment. One thing I will say that I love about that is the genuine enthusiasm. When you see Ozzy’s face, he just loves it. To me, I thought that was really cool. After his passing, I thought about this, and I watched it, man, it’s really cool that I entertained Ozzy to that extent. He just thought it was hilarious. Yeah, it’s cool. And, you know, Sharon was very flirtatious. It was pretty funny,” he said.
He further revealed that there were plans for a specific finish to the segment, but from his recollection, he ended up winning it outright, even though he doesn’t clearly remember how it was ultimately executed.
