Ricochet apologized for making fun of a woman who has MS, but some fans aren’t buying it.
The AEW star was in hot water after he took an in-character dig at a fan who has multiple sclerosis. The fan reacted to a video of Ricochet having a backstage meltdown after losing the National Championship at AEW Revolution, teasing him about his acting abilities.
“His acting hasn’t improved,” she wrote.
Ricochet replied, writing: “I’m glad you got MS.”
Ricochet was immediately criticized by many who felt that he crossed a line in mocking someone for having a serious illness, despite his attempt to portray a heel character on social media. The AEW star later apologized for his remarks, claiming that he was sincerely sorry after “taking out my hatred for the IWC” on the fan.
Many fans criticized Ricochet for a disingenuous apology
Some people credited Ricochet for owning up to his mistake and apologizing, noting that it showed character and growth. Many others continued to criticize him, pointing out that his apology was forced and “empty.” It was also mentioned that it came after he already retweeted other posts defending his remark before posting the apology.
“Homie, you were reposting support for the comment after you deleted it. You’re a moron ?,” one fan wrote in his replies.
“The fact it took you over a day to actually delete the tweet and apologize, after Sandi had already been bullied off the internet, is shameful,” wrote another. “Put your money where your mouth is and donate to an MS charity.”
“You don’t mean a word of this. You got in trouble and that’s why you issued a statement,” another Twitter/X user said.
F4WOnline.com’s Bryan Alvarez responded to a F4W message board poster who claimed Ricochet was “definitely crossing his fingers behind his back” while making the apology. Alvarez wrote, “If he’s crossing his fingers, it’s hoping he’s still employed by the end of the week.” Many on social media took this as Ricochet is facing disciplinary action from AEW. However, AEW has not indicated that this is the case, and the reply was not an official report.

You're only apologizing because everyone was calling you out on it (which you deserved).
