Ricky Saints wants to see his name appear on a very specific list.
Appearing on DC News Now, former NXT Champion Ricky Saints said he intends to become a two-time champion on WWE’s third brand.
“Yes, yes, it’s very important that I become a two-time champion because you have to understand, that group of people, it’s such a small list. So I need to be on that list, OK? I need to make sure that I cement myself in history,” Saints said.
Samoa Joe remains the only superstar in WWE NXT history with three title reigns, while Shinsuke Nakamura, Finn Bálor, Karrion Kross, Tommaso Ciampa, Bron Breakker, Trick Williams, and Oba Femi are tied with two reigns each.
Ricky Saints calls out WWE NXT Champion Joe Hendry
Ricky Saints also took the opportunity to take a shot at reigning NXT Champion Joe Hendry, mocking the Scottish star for his guitar skills.
“And two, Joe Hendry? I don’t care for him. I don’t care for the way he dresses, I don’t care for his guitar skills. I’m obviously the better person out of all those categories,” Saints said. “I’ve been telling people, who cares if he can play guitar! I see people in downtown Austin doing that all the time.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Ricky Saints expressed his interest in adding more acting roles to his résumé after recently guest-starring on the television series “Wild Cards” on The CW.
“I would do it again in a heartbeat,” he said. “I really thought that there were similarities to what wrestling is and it was a very good fit for me. I felt more comfortable doing something that was outside of my comfort zone.”
Fans can watch Ricky Saints in action every Tuesday on WWE NXT.
