A WWE legend will reportedly appear regularly on NXT going forward.
The March 10 episode of WWE NXT featured surprise appearances from veterans William Regal and Fit Finlay. It led to Regal’s son, Charlie Dempsey, turning heel on Tavion Heights and joining the Birthright faction alongside fellow multi-generational talent, including Finlay’s son, Uriah Connors, the late Brian Pillman’s son, Lexis King, Santino Marella’s daughter Arianna Grace, and soon-to-be son-in-law, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo.
As it turns out, this week’s NXT was the first time in a while since William Regal last appeared on WWE television. According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider (via PWInsider Elite), Regal had been off the road for some time, working in a backstage capacity on the main roster. He hadn’t been around the WWE Performance Center for a while before his appearance Tuesday night.
Johnson noted that the current expectation within WWE is for both William Regal and Fit Finlay to make regular appearances on NXT programming going forward. Both veterans were seen together with the Birthright faction in a backstage photo after the show. If the report is anything to go by, they might become an integral part of the group.
William Regal also serves as the Vice President of Global Talent Development in WWE, while Fit Finlay has been a long-time producer and trainer. Finlay’s eldest son, David Finlay, was also in talks about signing with WWE, but signed with AEW instead. He recently made his debut and revealed why he chose Tony Khan’s company over WWE.
