Will Ospreay’s absence from AEW television may not last much longer.
A new report indicates the former AEW International Champion is quietly taking important steps toward returning to the ring.
Ospreay has been sidelined since late 2025 following neck surgery. However, recent developments suggest progress is being made behind the scenes.
AEW has continued to tease his comeback through video packages and updates. Moreover, new information hints that the next phase of his recovery may already be underway.
Will Ospreay Reportedly Preparing for AEW In-Ring Return
According to Fightful Select, Ospreay has recently been working out in the ring ahead of AEW events as part of his rehabilitation process. Sources told the outlet that “things look very promising” regarding his ability to return at the same level he competed at before the injury.
The report also notes growing optimism internally about a possible return sometime this spring. However, no official timetable has been confirmed.
Will Ospreay underwent surgery after suffering two herniated discs in his neck. These injuries reportedly worsened during a match at the August 2025 Forbidden Door event. In storyline, AEW wrote him off television following the pay-per-view, allowing him time to undergo the procedure and begin recovery.
The 32-year-old has remained active in wrestling circles during his hiatus. He has appeared backstage at AEW events for medical evaluations and has also contributed creatively outside the company, including work as a producer with the UK promotion Pro-Wrestling: EVE.
AEW has also kept Ospreay visible through television vignettes. In February, a video package aired on Dynamite highlighting his eventual return, while AEW President Tony Khan later stated the star’s recovery was going “very, very well.”
If the recovery continues on its current trajectory, hope prevails internally that Ospreay could find himself factored into major plans later in the year — potentially even at AEW’s upcoming All In event at Wembley Stadium.
For now, the comeback clock is ticking — and if Ospreay returns anywhere near his previous form, the “Aerial Assassin” could soon be back where he does his best work: stealing the show.
