Brody King and Shane “Swerve” Strickland added another violent chapter to their rivalry on the March 11 episode of AEW Dynamite, and the confrontation escalated quickly once both men finally crossed paths.
King appeared earlier in the show with a brief promo, explaining that he had spent the day searching around San Jose for Strickland but couldn’t find him. Instead, he was handed another last-minute match despite not even being dressed for action.
The impromptu contest didn’t last long. King bulldozed through his unnamed opponent in seconds, finishing the bout with the devastating Ganso Bomb for a decisive pinfall victory.
However, the real fireworks began after the bell.
Brody King Breaks Swerve Strickland’s Chain During AEW Dynamite Brawl
Following the quick victory, King stared into the camera and sent a direct message to Strickland, promising he would see him soon. That moment didn’t last long before chaos erupted from the crowd.
A masked figure suddenly jumped the barricade and attacked King from behind, wrapping a steel chain around his neck. The attacker then revealed himself to be Strickland, who dragged King into the ring while continuing the choke.
The chain has become a signature weapon for Strickland during his recent heel run. In a previous encounter earlier in March, he used the same weapon to choke King unconscious after ambushing him.
This time, however, the outcome took a dramatic turn.
King fought his way back to his feet and snapped the chain in half, leaving Strickland stunned. The House of Black powerhouse quickly seized control, driving Strickland into the corner with a cannonball before wrapping the broken chain around his arm and applying a hanging sleeper hold over the ropes.
Prince Nana rushed to the ring and tried to intervene. The distraction gave Swerve Strickland just enough time to escape the hold and counter with a shoulder armbreaker.
The confrontation ended with both men trading blows once again, continuing a feud that now seems firmly locked in — or perhaps “chained” in — ahead of their upcoming showdown.
