After being away for many years, the legendary tag team The Hardy Boyz is finally returning to the WWE video game series. Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy will be playable characters in WWE 2K26.
The Hardy Boyz’s return to the video game has also led to speculation about a possible return to WWE TV in 2026.
Earlier, Matt Hardy mentioned that there had been talks about a potential comeback in the WWE. The duo already appeared on NXT in 2025 and even won the NXT Tag Team Championship during that run.
Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy Confirmed for WWE 2K26
The announcement of their 2K26 appearance came just a few hours before the game’s early access launch. WWE 2K shared a video on social media confirming that The Hardy Boyz will join the game later this year as part of the Season 4 Ringside Pass content.
In the video, Matt and Jeff Hardy shared how happy they are to be back in the game.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I am (Matt Hardy) very excited to announce that the GOATs, Matt and Jeff, The Hardys, The Hardy Boyz, are officially in WWE’s 2K26. We are joining the roster with season 4 Ringside Pass, coming in July. Play this game without fear. Because ‘fear’ is only a four-letter word,” The Hardy Boyz said.
This announcement ends a long break of seven years for the team in the gaming series. Matt Hardy last appeared in WWE 2K20, while Jeff Hardy was last featured in WWE 2K22. Although both brothers appeared as their individual characters in the games, their presence as a tag-team has been a long time coming.
The Hardy Boyz are just one part of a bigger DLC plan for WWE 2K26. The game will release six different Ringside Pass seasons throughout the year, adding new legends and international wrestlers to the roster.
The game officially releases on March 13, with early access starting on March 6. WWE 2K26 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
