There’s a positive update regarding an AEW star’s medical status following last week’s injury.
The February 25 episode of AEW Dynamite featured a Women’s Tag Team Championship match between Babes of Wrath (Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale) and MegaBad (Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford).
During the bout, Penelope Ford suffered an awkward landing after attempting a moonsault on the outside. In her partner’s absence, Megan Bayne was forced to take on the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions by herself until Lena Kross caused a disqualification finish.
Initial reports suggested AEW had to call an audible after an apparent broken ankle injury to Ford, who was visibly upset and needed assistance walking backstage. However, a new report has since emerged, and it sounds far more promising.
Sean Ross Sapp noted during a Fightful Select Answers Q&A that Penelope Ford actually suffered a sprained ankle during the match. Her expected absence is reportedly only a matter of weeks.
“The initial fear was something very bad, a broken ankle. However, the word that emerged throughout the days that followed believed that it would be a sprained ankle instead. She should miss a matter of weeks. There was a lot of optimism about it once she was able to do the digital interview with Lena Kross and Megan Bayne.”
WrestleZone will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite later tonight.
