AEW Dynamite Finish Changed Mid-Match Due to Confirmed Injury

AEW had to adjust plans on the fly during the February 25 episode of Dynamite after a confirmed injury altered the outcome of a championship match.

The AEW Women’s World Tag Team Title bout between Babes of Wrath (Harley Cameron & Willow Nightingale) and MegaBad (Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford) did not go as originally planned.

What began as a competitive title defense quickly shifted direction following a concerning moment at ringside.

AEW Changes Match Finish After Penelope Ford Injury On Dynamite

During the match, Penelope Ford attempted a moonsault to the floor and appeared to land awkwardly. AEW officials checked on her during the commercial break and ultimately ruled her out of continuing.

With Ford unable to proceed, an audible was reportedly called from the back to alter the structure of the match.

Rather than leave Bayne in a prolonged two-on-one scenario, Lena Kross interfered by striking Nightingale with a title belt directly in front of referee Aubrey Edwards.

The referee called for the disqualification, awarding the win to Babes of Wrath. Chants of disapproval echoed in the arena as commentary acknowledged Ford’s apparent injury.

After Cameron tagged out, she remained largely outside the action. This further signaled that adjustments were being made in real time. The change was designed to cover for the original plans, though it remains unclear who was initially scheduled to win.

Ford was escorted backstage, and there has been no official update on her status. The injury is especially concerning given her recent return on January 14, 2026, following surgery for a torn ligament suffered in October 2025.

While the titles remain with Babes of Wrath, the bigger focus now is on Ford’s condition. AEW’s quick pivot ensured the match had a finish. However, the division may feel the impact depending on her recovery timeline.
