A sitting U.S. senator has stepped into the wrestling discourse, publicly calling on AEW president Tony Khan to bring global superstar Bad Bunny into All Elite Wrestling.
The unexpected crossover moment arrived on February 6, just days before Bad Bunny headlines the Super Bowl halftime show.
Arizona senator Ruben Gallego took to social media to make his pitch. He tagged Tony Khan and suggested AEW could “solidify a huge fan base” by featuring Bad Bunny. He jokingly added, “Just no stretcher match please.” In wrestling terms, it was a clean call-out, no run-in required.
US Senator Calls for Bad Bunny To Appear in AEW
Gallego’s post landed during a week when AEW drew national attention for uncensored “F**k ICE” chants on Dynamite, a moment many praised as an example of the company allowing fans to have a voice.
Bad Bunny, who has openly criticized ICE and recently echoed that stance during his Grammy wins, suddenly found himself at the center of a wrestling-meets-politics conversation — talk about heat without a promo.
So far, all of Bad Bunny’s wrestling work has taken place in WWE, where he built a surprisingly strong resume.
Since entering the WWE orbit in 2021, Bunny competed in the Royal Rumble, won the 24/7 Championship, and delivered a standout WrestleMania 37 performance alongside Damian Priest.
His San Juan Street Fight victory over Priest at Backlash 2023 further cemented his credibility, proving he wasn’t just a celebrity cameo — he put in the work and took the bumps.
Whether Khan makes a play remains unclear, and no deal has been reported. Still, the idea alone has fans fantasy-booking harder than a post-Rumble Monday. Bunny jumping promotions would be less Forbidden Door and more open mic night. As for now, it’s a storyline that exists entirely off-screen.
If nothing else, it’s another reminder that in wrestling, even politics can’t resist a good crossover pop.
