AEW star Andrade shares his take on the ongoing ICE raids in the United States.
The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been conducting multiple raids across the country, claiming to target the arrest and removal of non-citizens with criminal convictions or pending charges who pose threats to public safety or national security. However, they are facing criticism for violent tactics, racial profiling, deaths happening in custody, and also for the detention of a five-year-old child in Minnesota.
While many wrestlers have shared their takes on the raids, Mexican wrestler and current All Elite Wrestling star Andrade has now commented on the situation. Speaking on a recent Highspots Virtual Gimmick Table session, he noted that, being an immigrant himself, he feels bad for all the Latin people and those from other countries going through the ordeal.
“So, I don’t wanna speak so much, but, you know, now with the — what happened with the immigrant — immigration and all these things happened so… because I’m immigrant, so I’m from Mexico so, I feel bad for all these Latin people, people from (other) countries,” Andrade said. [H/T Fightful]
Andrade recently returned to AEW following a contract dispute with WWE over his non-compete clause and has resumed his role as a member of the Don Callis Family. He also appears for New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he’s a member of the United Empire.
Andrade commented on his divorce from WWE’s Charlotte Flair
During a recent appearance on El Ring, Andrade opened up about his second run with WWE and his divorce from Charlotte Flair.
“When I returned to WWE, they treated me well. I have nothing to complain about,” Andrade said. “Triple H always treated me well, he welcomed me back, and everything was fine. The wrestlers also welcomed me in a good way.
“But (Charlotte) wasn’t at the events. She was injured, doing her rehab, focused on her recovery… It wasn’t just about me growing while she didn’t, or vice versa. We wanted to grow together as a couple. Going back seemed like a good way to do that, and then the injury happened. After that, we started having some problems, and eventually the divorce happened.
“A lot of people ask whether she had anything to do with my departure from WWE,” Andrade continued. “She had nothing to do with it — not at all. She never spoke to the company, never asked them to fire me, nothing like that. Absolutely nothing. I respect her. She was an incredible woman and an amazing wife. I wish her nothing but the best.
“And to the fans who keep asking and saying, ‘Charlotte, Charlotte,’ I’ll say this: in this case, I admit it as a person and as a man — I was the one who failed in the relationship. I can’t speak badly about her. She is an incredible woman, and I truly wish her the best. She knows that. And to the fans: please stop bothering her,” Andrade said. [H/T: NoDQ.com]
