Dixie Carter Booed During TNA Impact On AMC Return

Dixie Carter returned to TNA Wrestling, but it didn’t seem like fans were too thrilled to see her.

Current TNA President Carlos Silva came to the stage ahead of the main event match between Mike Santana and Frankie Kazarian. Silva told the Dallas crowd it was his honor to welcome back former TNA President Dixie Carter.

Dixie came to the stage and the commentary team couldn’t believe it. However, the fans in attendance met her with a lukewarm response. Carter gave a heartfelt speech about how good it was to be there and how much the company meant to her. Despite Carter’s sentimental remarks, the crowd wasn’t having it, as they booed her through the end of her speech.

The crowd warmed up a bit after Bully Ray cut her off and walked on the stage. Bully infamously powerbombed Dixie Carter through a table on a 2014 episode of Impact, and commentary thought it might happen again. However, Bully simply hugged her and walked to the ringside area to do commentary. Bully joked about his history with Carter, noting that he wanted to show a “softer side” now.

Dixie Carter was appointed president of TNA Entertainment in early 2003. She also served as TNA President until August 2016. Carter stayed on as a minority shareholder of the company until leaving in 2017. Carter’s departure came after Anthem Sports and Entertainment purchased a majority stake in TNA and acquired the loans Billy Corgan made to Carter when he succeeded her as company President.

Thursday’s live episode of TNA Impact on AMC saw several other returns and debuts, as AJ Styles, Sonya Deville and Cora Jade all appeared on the show.
