AEW’s MJF Would Choose Suicide Over Listening To Hardcore Music

It seems as if MJF is not a fan of hardcore music.

MJF made a surprise cameo on the Hardlore podcast with Colin Young and Bo Lueders. The episode, which featured a tournament to crown the best hardcore band of the 2000s, saw the hosts call King Nine’s Dan Seely for his opinion on a first-round matchup between Bitter End and Hope Conspiracy.

Seely asked if they could have MJF on as a special guest, then gave a nuanced answer about why he chose Bitter End to advance.

“Is this one of those weird goth music episodes?” MJF said in the background.

Seely then asked MJF for his pick, which resulted in a… rather typical answer from the new AEW World Champion.

“Max, if you had to pick between Bitter End or Hope Conspiracy, who would you pick?” Seely asked.

“Um, suicide,” MJF dryly replied.

Young pivoted and said The Suicide File, a Boston-based American hardcore punk band, was coming up later in the tournament.

In case you’re wondering why MJF and Seely were together, the latter reportedly works backstage for AEW.

AEW viewers spotted Seely breaking up a backstage brawl during one show, and he was also seen on the June 4, 2025, Fyter Fest edition of AEW Dynamite, which featured Mercedes Moné eating an overcooked steak. Fans also spotted another connection, as a King Nine shirt was featured during a Young Bucks segment on the July 6, 2025, episode of Dynamite.
