Tony Khan Breaks Silence on Chris Jericho Amid WWE Return Speculation

AEW President Tony Khan has finally addressed ongoing speculation surrounding Chris Jericho’s future amid WWE return speculation.

Speaking on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, Tony Khan was asked directly about Chris Jericho’s current status with AEW. In response, Khan made it clear just how important Jericho has been to the company since day one.

“Well, first of all, I’m really grateful, when I talk about people that have been here from the beginning and talk about that first show in Las Vegas, none of it would be possible without Chris Jericho, who’s been instrumental in AEW from the very beginning.”

He continued by emphasizing Jericho’s lasting impact on the company and its history. “I love Chris very much, and I would say that Chris is always a big part of AEW, and I would say this promotion is here to stay, and Chris Jericho’s a huge part of our history. And we’re really proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish, and Chris is an instrumental part of it.” [H/T: 411mania]

Jericho has been the subject of heavy speculation in recent months, with reports suggesting his most recent AEW contract may have expired at the end of last year. That fueled widespread rumors that he could be headed back to WWE.

Those rumors peaked ahead of this week ahead of WWE RAW, when many fans expected Jericho to make a surprise return. However, Jericho did not appear on the show and remains listed on AEW’s official roster page. However, reports clarified that Jericho was never scheduled to appear on the show, and he was actually in Los Angeles.
