Earlier this week, reports indicated that the likes of Alex Abrahantes, Mercedes Martinez, and Matt Taven had all departed from All Elite Wrestling. In Abrahantes’ case, his exit comes after a six-year run with the company, with AEW reportedly opting not to renew his latest contract.
Abrahantes has since confirmed his departure through a video on X, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work AEW since 2019. Abrahantes additionally thanked his supporters, both in and outside of the wrestling promotion.
“Thank you to anyone that has ever supported me. Thank you for believing me, thank you for the kind words, thank you for the interactions,” he said. “For over six years, I’ve had the chance to live my dream. I am so grateful for AEW. I’m so grateful that Tony gave me the opportunity to do so. I didn’t want to step away without saying thank you. Also want to thank everybody at AEW. I built such a bond with so many people there that they are my family and I appreciate them.”
Abrahantes Shares A Motivational Message
Alongside his series of thank-yous, Abrahantes left his followers with an inspiring message, encouraging them to continue chasing their dreams, even in the wake of adversity.
“When I was younger, I made a vow that someday I’d make it and share this same exact message with you that if you work hard, believe in yourself, don’t take the criticisms of others, and don’t let what other people believe or think about you hold you down and kill your dreams, I can tell you from experience, reaching your dream is 100% worth it,” he said. “There’s gonna be ups, there’s gonna be downs, but as long as you believe in yourself, as long as you work hard, as long as you’re a good person, and as long as you never give up, you’re going to see those dreams through, and trust me, it’s totally worth it. As for me, I’m not giving up on myself, and I’m certainly not going to give up on you.”
Under the AEW banner, Abrahantes served as a member of the Spanish commentary team. He also emerged as a manager for The Lucha Bros (Penta and Rey Fenix) and Komander.
