AEW Dynamite on 34th St Results:

This week’s special Christmas Eve episode of Dynamite kicks off with Blue League Continental Classic action.

Continental Classic Blue League: Konosuke Takeshita vs. Orange Cassidy

  • The finish of the match saw Konosuke Takeshita hit Orange Cassidy with Raging Fire to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Konosuke Takeshita

Grade: A-

This was a fantastic match to kick off Dynamite this evening. Arguably, two of the biggest stars in the company battled it out for important points in the Continental Classic. You gotta love it. I’m kind of surprised at the amount of chemistry these two men had together, but I guess I shouldn’t be. Both of these men are very special performers.

Gabe Kidd returns to AEW

We get a vignette for New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Gabe Kidd. He’s bragging about everything he’s done to Darby Allin this year. Kidd challenges Allin to a match this weekend at Worlds End.

We get a video package recapping the ongoing rivalry between FTR and the Bang Bang Gang. Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn challenge FTR to a Chicago Street Fight for the AEW World Tag Team Titles at Worlds End.

Continental Classic Blue League: Mascara Dorada vs. Roderick Strong

  • The finish of the match saw Mascara Dorada hit Roderick Strong with a Shooting Star Press to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Mascara Dorada

Grade: B+

Very fun matchup. I’m curious what the direction of Roderick Strong will be coming out of the Continental Classic. Because it’s very possible he could come out of this tournament winless, and that’s honestly kinda brutal. It will be very interesting to see what’s next for Strong if he fails to win tomorrow night on Christmas Collision.

AEW airs a video package hyping the awards they won this year from Sports Illustrated.

Kris Statlander and Jamie Hayter go face-to-face

Renee Paquette is on the stage, and she brings out both AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander and Jamie Hayter. Kris Statlander says she gave Hayter a shot because she knows what it’s like to have everything taken away from them.

Statlander reflects on her career and says that her sob story is over. Statlander says not to pity her for what she’s been through, but fear her for what she’s become. Stat says she is transforming every day to better herself, and despite Hayter beating her in the past, she’ll be face-to-face with the Cosmic Killer at Worlds End.

Jamie Hayter says she has plenty to add and tries to hit Statlander with Hayterade, but Statlander blocks it. Hayter reminds Statlander that the last time she hit her with that move, she didn’t get back up. Referees come out and separate the two women. Hayter declares to the crowd that she will be the next champion.

MJF vs. Dustin Waller

  • The finish of the match saw MJF lock Dustin Waller in with Salt of the Earth to win by submission.

Winner: MJF

Grade: N/A

Very quick squash match to showcase MJF’s in-ring return. Nothing here is worth grading.

A Worlds End preview

After the match, MJF gets on the microphone. But before he can speak, he’s interrupted by Hangman Page’s theme song as he appears in the balcony. Swerve Strickland’s music plays next, and Strickland appears in another part of the balcony alongside Prince Nana.

Hangman Page says he wants to remind MJF that the contractual agreement to no physicality got left in England, and tonight they are in the Hammerstein. Page tells MJF to go ahead and make his jokes at his expense. Hangman says he’s sure the movie companies that want to work with him will love what he has to say in public.

Page tells MJF to compare them to another sex pest in the news because there are plenty of them to choose from right now. Hangman says maybe MJF wants to make a joke about someone who beat him twice this year isn’t a star. Page says no matter what MJF says tonight, he’s getting his ass beat.

Swerve and Hangman make their way to ringside, and The Opps trainees run to ringside and get beaten down quickly. Samoa Joe appears on the screen and says he knew those guys would get beaten down quickly, but he sent them out there in an attempt to divide them all. Joe says he’s going to come for all of them one by one, and their hopes and dreams of taking the title away from him will come to an end at the pay-per-view.

Swerve Strickland responds to MJF’s Diddy comments from last week

MJF tries to attack Hangman and Swerve from behind, but they see it coming. Strickland hits MJF with a House Call as Page wraps the chain around MJF’s throat. Swerve gets on the microphone and says he’s gonna tell everyone something about MJF he doesn’t want them to know, but he’s gonna tell them anyway. Strickland says MJF pretends like he doesn’t like the fans, but he loves them because their attention feeds his fragile little ego.

Swerve says never in his life has he met such a piece of garbage like MJF. Strickland says MJF is a man who has power, and that makes for a toxic problem, calling him more of a Diddy than he’ll ever be. Strickland mentions the Pinacle, Wardlow, Jay White, and Adam Cole. Swerve says all of them are worse off after dealing with him. Swerve says everyone he ever interacts with, whether it be an enemy or an ally, he makes them better. Strickland calls MJF a bitch and says he’ll see him at Worlds End.

Are the Babes of Wrath ready for Worlds End?

Renee Paquette is backstage with the Babes of Wrath. They hype up their match on Collision tomorrow, as well as their title match against Athena and Mercedes Moné, Saturday night at AEW Worlds End.

Dynamite Diamond Ring Final: Ricochet (w/ GOA) vs. Bandido

  • The finish of the match saw Bandido reverse Ricochet’s Spirit Gun into a quick roll-up to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Bandido

After the match, The Demand attacks Bandido, but Brody King hits the ring to make the save before any real damage could be done.

Grade: A-

Damn, this was a lot of fun. The Styles Clash setup into a Liger Driver almost made my heart stop for a minute because I was terrified the move was the former, and Ricochet was about to break his neck. That was a very cool twist on the move that I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. It feels weird to see a babyface have the Dynamite Diamond Ring after all the years of MJF holding it. It will be interesting to see how the company handles this in 2026.

Darby Allin has to worry about Gabe Kidd

Darby Allin is backstage with Lexy Nair. Allin is asked about Gabe Kidd’s challenge, and Allin says he’s got more important things to worry about than Kidd. Unfortunately, for Allin, Kidd was listening in the background and attacked Allin from behind. He takes him to the top of the stairwell and tosses him down the stairs. The same stairwell he was thrown down on the last episode of Rampage by the Death Riders.

Marina Shafir vs. Mina Shirakawa

  • The finish of the match saw Marina Shafir lock Mina Shirakawa in Mother’s Milk to win the match via passout.

Winner: Marina Shafir

After the match is done, Shafir locks Shirakawa in Mother’s Milk again, which brings out Timeless Toni Storm. Storm gets knocked out for her troubles by Shafir as well with a well-placed kick. Shafir flips off the crowd and leaves.

Grade: B

Good match. I’d really like to see Shirakawa win more matches than she does, but I understand they are really pushing Shafir right now. I’m assuming this will lead to a matchup between Storm and Shafir, possibly as soon as this weekend at Worlds End.

The Young Bucks aren’t cleared

We get a video of Lexy Nair speaking to The Elite after last week’s episode of Dynamite. The Young Bucks announce that they won the match, but they got hurt and won’t be cleared for the rest of the year. Kenny Omega says they will always be The Elite, but this will give him the time to take care of something he should have taken care of a long time ago.

We get a video package hyping Jon Moxley’s current run in the Continental Classic.

Continental Classic Gold League: Jungle Jack Perry vs. PAC

  • The finish of the match saw Jungle Jack Perry bite PAC’s hand while in the Brutalizer. This led to Perry catching PAC in a tight roll-up to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Jungle Jack Perry

Grade: B+

Luchsaurus brings Jack Perry milk and cookies on the ramp as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.

AEW Dynamite Review:

I really enjoyed tonight’s episode of Dynamite. I also liked the earlier 6 PM start time. I’m sure they have no interest in running this timeslot as a regular thing, but I liked it much better than the typical primetime slot.

We got a lot of great action in the Continental Classic tonight. But I would say my biggest complaint about tonight’s episode of Dynamite is that, beyond the angle following MJF’s match and the stuff between Darby and Gabe, there wasn’t a ton of push for this weekend’s pay-per-view. I’m guessing a lot of that will happen tomorrow on Collision.

But my question would be, how many people will be watching Collision on Christmas night? I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Regardless, I still enjoyed tonight’s show, and I think Worlds End should be a pretty great event later this weekend.

Grade: B+
