There was an injury scare with a top AEW star earlier this week on Dynamite, and we now have an update on their condition following the match.
Wednesday night at AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming, Jungle Jack Perry went one-on-one with Kazuchika Okada in the Gold League of the Continental Classic. Early on in the match, Perry took a scary bump to the outside, which seemingly derailed the match for the time being. Many fans immediately thought Jack might have been seriously hurt before he was able to continue and finish the match normally.
This would have been a series of unfortunate events in this year’s Continental Classic. Perry had already replaced Darby Allin after being injured in the tournament the week before.
Jack Perry thought he had broken his ankle on AEW Dynamite
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez reveals that Perry initially thought he had broken his ankle early on. But luckily felt better as things went on, and it appears he’s going to be fine.
“Jack Perry is replacing Darby. Who got injured in the match with Kevin Knight, and he was replaced by Jack,” Bryan Alvarez said. “And Jack almost got hurt in this match because he did spot early where he did that topee and sold his ankle. I thought, well, this is a work to set up something later in the match. And then, the whole match goes, and it sets up nothing in the match. It was like nothing to do with his ankle.
“Apparently, he actually hurt his ankle on that dive. And I guess he told people that he was he was afraid, like this might be broken. But he gutted it out and apparently felt better later. And now it’s looking like he’s gonna be fine. But we almost had this Darby Allin spot, almost took out two people.”
