AEW star Dustin Rhodes has shared a new update on his recovery after undergoing double knee replacement surgery earlier this year.
Dustin Rhodes lost the TNT Championship to Kyle Fletcher on the July 13 episode of AEW Collision. Following the loss, he had both knees replaced in August. After surgery, the former TNT Champion made it clear that he planned to return to the ring once he was fully healed.
Reports suggested Dustin Rhodes would be out of action for a long time, possibly until 2026. Now, Rhodes has posted an update on Twitter/X, giving fans an honest look at how his recovery is going nearly three months after the surgery.
Rhodes wrote that he is just under three months out from the surgery and still deals with a lot of pain. At 56 years old, he said the healing process is taking longer than he expected. He explained that simple movements, like getting up from a chair or stepping down with his right leg, are still challenging.
He wrote, “Knee replacements update: We are just under 3 months out. I am still in a considerable amount of pain especially in mornings. I am 56 yrs old and it is taking a lot longer for recovery guys. The hardest thing for me at this moment, is getting up from a chair, and stepping down a step with right especially.”
He continued, “My legs have always been pretty thin and cannot wait to actually strengthen them more on e I am able. I am on track for my age and then some and I would assume its because I have a strong work ethic and an athlete. Prob late Feb, early March for the greatest comeback of anyone in their 50’s. ?? If you can’t make fun of yourself, then what are we doing lol. Pic below is me #KeepSteppin”
